UX Writing for Digital Services - Introduction

UX writing focuses on guiding people through a digital product effectively and clearly. It covers the shorter, instructional parts of content rather than long-form content.

Use these guidelines when writing text for HSE online forms, products and services.

Design Approach

We take a user experience design approach.

HSE forms, products and services must:

• be accessible
• be easy and quick to use
• meet the needs of the people using it

Only content designers and UX designers can design content for HSE forms, products and services. This is to keep the quality and accuracy of the content to a high standard.

All HSE digital services must meet the required standards in the HSE Digital Services Standard National Policy.

Discovery

Words and content must be considered from the very start of every project. Some discovery research may also be needed.

Discovery research for content design projects is a way of finding out more about what our audience needs and what the HSE wants to achieve.
