Curated hub
Curated hubs are a form of subtopic hub.
A curated hub is made up of:
- a parent page that use the links list component
- child pages that use the curated hub navigation component
An example of a curated hub is Giving birth.
When to use a curated hub
Use a curated hub when a topic can be broken into a series of child pages and you wish to provide a navigation to link the pages.
When not to use a curated hub
Do not use curated hub if the content you want to link to is another curated hub or a subtopic hub. Use subtopic hub instead.
Do not mix multi-page guides and child content pages on a curated hub. This makes for an inconsistent navigation experience for users. Use subtopic hub instead.
How to use curated hub
Curated hub always uses the links list component.
There is no limit to the number of child pages you can link to. But we recommend not having more than 12.
If you have more than 12 links, your content may need to be broken down further. Consider using subtopic hub instead. If a curated hub is still your preferred pattern, group links under subheadings.
Use the curated hub navigation component on any child pages.
Do not put a multi-page guide, a subtopic hub or another curated hub within a curated hub.
Use subheadings
Group links using subheadings if you have more than 8 child pages. This is to make the curated hub easier to use.
Research shows using too many links without breaking them up:
- is off-putting for users
- is difficult for the user to choose the right option
- causes a high bounce rate
An example of a curated hub is Caring for a new baby.
